{Nourish} Spiced Cranberry Apple and Hemp Smoothie

Spiced Cranberry Apple SmoothieCold and flu season is upon us so it is important that we do everything in our power to support our immune systems so we don’t wind up sick. This Cranberry Apple and Ginger smoothie will definitely do the trick. Winter smoothies, though counter-intuitive, are a delicious, nutrient dense way to consume a variety of goodies including out-of-season produce which is still available frozen. Plus, I love playing around with seasonal flavors by using citrus, ginger and savory spices like cardamon and cinnamon which can even substitute for added sugar! {Nourish} Turmeric Super Seed and Nut butter

NutButterHave you ever made your own nut butter? If not, you should. It’s fun, easy and really gratifying plus you can get really creative with your flavor profiles and add-ins. {Katie’s Picks} Clean Eating Veggie Burgers

Another holiday weekend is upon us and, for many, that means firing up the grill! Even though I am an omnivore I enjoy sinking my teeth into a super taste veggie burger from time to time to mix things up a bit! Sadly, just because a veggie burger is meat free it is generally perceived as healthy–but that is not always the case! Many veggies burgers bare ingredient lists loaded with highly processed, non-food ingredients. Choose quality first and opt for brands that use whole foods and ingredients you would use to make ’em yourself! Circle back to our post on Conscious Living Tips for more information on clean eating and reading labels. In the meantime, I did the work for you and rounded up a variety of veggie burgers that are both nutritious and delicious! Happy Grilling! {Nourish} Spicy Egg, Cucumber + Avocado Toast

Egg Cucumber Avocado Toast

{Sponsored Post} Avocado toast is all the rage and it is for good reason! This simple, nourishing snack is ridiculously tasty and equally as good for you. We are avocado fanatics at my house. My four year old literally eats avocados right from the “bowl” (aka skin) and makes me giggle each time I hand him a half and he quickly asks, “did you put sea salt on it”? I love the decadence that results from smashing an avocado onto your favorite slice of bread. This is only trumped by the exciting number of toppings  you can add to the simple, yet wildly nourishing base avocado toast offers.  Continue reading “{Nourish} Spicy Egg, Cucumber + Avocado Toast”

{Nourish} Whole Food Swap: DIY Trail Mix

{Build A Better Trail Mix}-9I am a huge fan of trail mix–it is a portable, nutrient dense snack. I have an issue with many store bought trail mixes though as they often contain sugar-sweetened dried fruits (otherwise known as candy) as well as candy (hello there M & M’s) and more. So, in the quest to rid your cart of less-than-healthy packaged foods I figured I would give you a simple tutorial on building your own trail mix!
