{Nourish} Everyday Herb Oils

DIY Herb Oils Around this time of year, my herb garden begins to take on a life of its own. In other words, it’s out of control and then I feel out of control  because seriously, what am I supposed to do with all of those herbs!? I used to get totally freaked out at the thought of wasting them. It felt like such a loss. The same loss I feel when a bunch of purchased, fresh herbs begin to look weepy and abandoned in my fridge. Well, weep no more. This everyday herb oil may be my all-time favorite kitchen hack/cooking tip.
I honestly can’t remember what gave me the idea to make large batches of herb oil–maybe it was my go-to ritual of making and freezing pesto to use up my basil bounty. What ever it was, I am grateful because these herb oils have become the foundation of so many recipes. The possibilities are endless.

{Nourish} Chicken Salad with Grapes and Dill

Chicken Salad with Grapes and Dill @KatieCavutoRDIt’s been a while. I know. I have broken so many blogger rules by simply peacing out but hey, I am getting over all of those shoulds and embracing real life. My family needed me. I needed me. So, the blog, it had to wait. But, I am back and we are day three into a brand-new school routine. Hudson started kindergarten this week and after months of worrying about how he was going to deal with the transition…he is all smiles and I am the one that is exhausted. Ha! Now that we are out the door in an hour in the mornings, planning ahead has become more essential than ever. I get a pass on packing Hudson’s lunch for now (he has to eat at school which is a whole rant in itself) which gives me a bit more time to pack my own. No, I am not making chicken salad from scratch at 7 am, but I am making a batch at the beginning of each week and you can too!  Continue reading “{Nourish} Chicken Salad with Grapes and Dill”

{Nourish} Thrive Green Blender Juice

Green Blender JuiceSay hello to my mean, green morning routine. I have been consciously trying to up my vegetable intake and this refreshing green smoothie-ish blender juice has done the trick! We can all stand to eat more vegetables and breakfast is one meal where they tend to be lacking. Greens, Celery, Cucumber, Parsley, Lemon, Apple and Water–one benefit of blending this over juicing is that all the healthy fiber remains a part of the drink! {Nourish} Quinoa Tabbouleh

Quinoa TabboulehRemember that beautiful Spring Vegetable Frittata that I shared on Tuesday, well this super simple Quinoa Tabbouleh is its perfect mate! Colorful, flavorful and loaded with good-for-you ingredients, this recipe is a mainstay in our house. I have been making it for years and I am shocked that it is, just now, making it’s way onto the blog. Whip it up for a brunch, BBQ of weekend lunch. It’s a crowd pleasure to say the least. Save yourself some time and pre-cook the quinoa (or another grain of your choosing). I have even used frozen, defrosted quinoa in a pinch as  I usually have the other ingredients in the house!  Continue reading “{Nourish} Quinoa Tabbouleh”

{Nourish} Roasted Salmon + Savory Herb Salsa Verde

blog-8

The end of the summer may be drawing near but there is still time to savor the flavors of the season. I am a huge fan of making simple, herb-centric sauces that pair perfectly with a variety of ingredients. Sauces, like this Salsa Verde, are a great way to use of the bounty of herbs in your garden or those left over herbs that are hanging out in your fridge. Easy to make and store, this savory salsa verde is going to be a new favorite…I’m sure of it!
