{Thrive} Finding Peace and Giving Back: Ways to Take Action

whos-yourBe grateful and be kind, that is what the holiday season is all about. I like to think of this as my daily mantra. Words, they are comforting, but action is empowering. It has been an unsettling couple of weeks for many people. With that being said, this is not going to be a political rant, so I implore you to keep reading. This is more of a call to action. A call to kindness, actually. Can we all agree to that? It’s my hope that we all have a few things in common, most importantly a vow to love, respect and accept one another as human beings — no matter our differences. I truly hope we can all agree to this intention and here are some steps we can take to accomplish this goal.

{Thrive} Kringle, Our Holiday Kindness Elf

Kringle the Kindness ElfKindness. It’s free. Sprinkle that shit everywhere! Especially now. With the holidays on the horizon, I am thrilled to share with you to one of my favorite traditions, our “Kindness Elf”. His name is Kringle and he exist to remind our family of the true meaning of the holidays: giving to others, kindness, acceptance and of course, LOVE.  Starting on December 1st, he brings our family an act of kindness for each day of the month leading up to Christmas. {Breathe} Mindful Monday: Celebrating Light and Love

summer solstice yoga loveToday is the summer solstice and tomorrow is International Yoga Day and that is not a coincidence. The summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year, has a spiritual meaning for many cultures and it is thought that on this day, the first yogi began sharing the knowledge of yoga with others. Oh, and if all of that was not exciting enough, there is going to be a rare Full Strawberry Moon tonight! What’s a strawberry moon? I had no idea though it sounds kinda delicious and I giggled with Hudson at the idea that maybe we could look up to the sky tonight and see a strawberry instead of the moon.  But seriously, a Strawberry Moon, also known as a Full Rose Moon, which sounds equally as lovely, was named by the Algonquin tribes as they thought it was a signal to gather ripening fruit. I love this! Full Moon + Strawberry Moon + Summer Solstice + Yoga = a gaggle of good vibes if you ask me. {Breathe} Mindful Monday: The Power of Self-Touch

self touch I know what you are thinking, and don’t you worry (if you were worrying), that is not what this post is about (wink, wink). This post is about self-love though “that” may fall into the category, right!? Regardless, think about this for a moment. When someone you love is hurting, how do you show them love and comfort? You hug them. Rest your hand on their shoulder. Rub their back or maybe their head. Yet, we rarely offer this gesture to ourselves. We rarely touch ourselves in a loving and nurturing way. Why not?
