{Thrive} Finding Peace and Giving Back: Ways to Take Action

whos-yourBe grateful and be kind, that is what the holiday season is all about. I like to think of this as my daily mantra. Words, they are comforting, but action is empowering. It has been an unsettling couple of weeks for many people. With that being said, this is not going to be a political rant, so I implore you to keep reading. This is more of a call to action. A call to kindness, actually. Can we all agree to that? It’s my hope that we all have a few things in common, most importantly a vow to love, respect and accept one another as human beings — no matter our differences. {Thrive} Kringle, Our Holiday Kindness Elf

Kringle the Kindness ElfKindness. It’s free. Sprinkle that shit everywhere! Especially now. With the holidays on the horizon, I am thrilled to share with you to one of my favorite traditions, our “Kindness Elf”. His name is Kringle and he exist to remind our family of the true meaning of the holidays: giving to others, kindness, acceptance and of course, LOVE.  Starting on December 1st, he brings our family an act of kindness for each day of the month leading up to Christmas. We often love them so much that we defend the beauty of their imperfections. I sure do. Conversely, we seem to be hard-wired to judge, without hesitation, those that we may not know. Those that may be different? Continue reading “{Thrive} Mindful Monday: Challenging Your Judgements”

{Thrive} Mindful Monday: Celebrating Random Acts of Kindness

Random Acts of Kindness

Tomorrow is “Giving Tuesday” which is a day dedicated to giving back. While many people translate this day–in the midst of the holiday shopping hoopla–into a prompt to purchase gifts that “give back”(a great thing might I add)–I think it can be even more. A simple act of kindness is a great way to “give” and truly speaks to the spirit of the holidays. This year, in our house, we turned our Christmas countdown calendar into a kindness calendar. Instead of toys, treats and trinkets– each day we are reminded of an act of kindness (and encouraged to do it, of course!) My challenge for all of you on this “Mindful Monday” is to re-invent “Giving Tuesday”. Wake up tomorrow with the intention to be kind all day–in many ways! What a wonderful way to give and to remain centered in the true meaning of the holiday season! Continue reading “{Thrive} Mindful Monday: Celebrating Random Acts of Kindness”
