A few months ago, an instagram post inspired me to give “Plastic Free July” a try. Like most attempts at changing a habit, the first few weeks are more about awareness than success. Wowza. While I was far (I mean FAR) from plastic free for even a day, the exercise sparked in me a willingness to change. Friends! What a wild few weeks it’s been. I have had “BLOG” on my to-do list every week and still, I haven’t been able to keep up with it. I’m sorry! Between trips to and from Florida for Spring Training with the Phillies (no complaints here!) and a sick kiddo (this cold and flu season is nutty!), life has felt non-stop because it has been. 5 Health Intentions for the New yearDid you know that 80% of New Years resolutions fail by February! Ugh. That’s a startling statistic and it might have you thinking, “why bother”? I’m right there with you. That’s why I gave up on resolutions a few years ago and, to be honest, I don’t regret it one little bit. Wellness doesn’t manifest from lofty goals and deprivation. You have to be more gentle and compassionate with yourself to see positive results.

{Breathe} 6 Tips for Better Sleep

How to Sleep Better @katiecavutordI loathe the days that I wake up pining for more sleep. Sleepless nights leave me feeling cranky and foggy and generally ick. While these symptoms are offensive on their own, it’s important to note that our health can suffer when our sleep is constantly disrupted. Studies show that chronic poor sleep is associated with an increased risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, depression, anxiety and more. Honestly, it’s no wonder we have a tough time getting good Zzzzz’s as we’re stressed out, over-stimulated and often over-fed.
