{Monthly Morsels}: August Edition

Things you should know August @katiecavutoRDThe unofficial last day of summer may be behind us but there are still a few weeks of summer left to enjoy so don’t unpack your fall clothes just yet! Instead–keep indulging in tomatoes, peaches and corn until you literally can’t stand it anymore–soak up the sun and enjoy these last few weeks of green! August was a busy month on the blog with a bounty of summer-centric recipes, back-to-school goodies and more. Here is a round-up of the month’s tastiest morsels.

{Nourish} : This month’s most popular recipes were the “Smoky Salmon with Tomato + Peach Salad” and the “Seared Scallops with Corn +Tomato Salad“. Thankfully the star ingredients of both recipes are still in-season so head to your favorite market and cook ’em up! Trust me, they are delish!

{Breathe} New to the blog this month is “Mindful Monday” posts! I have enjoyed sharing inspirational quotes and mantras that help me (and hopefully you) set intentions for the week ahead.  Share your inspirational quotes in the comment section or on my social media pages (have you liked my Instagram page??)  and I may spotlight your quote in an upcoming post!

{Thrive}:  Earlier this month I wrote a post on the importance of trusting your intuition. There is no perfect “diet”–instead we must choose foods that nourish our body and make us feel good.  If you have not had a chance to read it, here is the link!

{Monthly Musings}: The highlight of this month was my week long vacation in Maine. It felt so good to relax and spend time with my family. I was out of the paddle board almost everyday and practiced yoga both on and off the water. It felt so good to connect with nature and just let go of life for a while.

My month in food consisted of a fun video shoot with Grapes from California (client) which I will surely share with you soon! I ate my body weight in tomatoes, peaches, basil and corn  and don’t plan on stopping until I have to! While in Maine, we savored our fill of lobster and topped almost everything with antioxidant rich wild blueberries.

A few noteworthy new-to-me goodies landed in my shopping cart as well: Qia Superfood Bars and Siggi’s whole milk yogurts were a hit with the family. There are several great back-to-school favorites worth mentioning liked Quinn Kale Popcorn and Peeled Snacks Peas Please. Check out my picks for more suggestions. My go to sweet treat of late is Lundbergs Sweet Dreams Chocolate Covered Rice Cakes which are a gluten free and completely guilt free treat that my four year old love as much as I do. On the beauty front, I am loving Piper Wai natural activated charcoal deodorants–a definite must try!

{Stumped?} Nutrition and wellness information can be bountiful and confusing. Ask your questions and I will simplify the messages for you! Leave questions in the comments and I will do my best to answer them on the blog this month!

To a healthy and happy September!
