Relax…it’s your time.
When I think back to my childhood, I have been over scheduled since I was around 6 years old. I started gymnastics when I was 3 or 4 and was competing by the time I was 6. I was always trying to find the balance between school and long hours at the gym all the while fitting in time to sleep and well…be a kid! Old habits are hard to break and my adult life was looking very similar! I was working a ton which became even more overwhelming once I had my son, Hudson, now 4 years old. The genesis of this blog was the realization that something need to shift. I need to take care of myself more and really commit to finding balance. After a year and half of feeling unwell and many too many doctors visits that left me without answers and more stressed out– I was (finally) diagnosed with Lyme Disease and Adrenal Fatigue when I found an integrative and functional medicine doctor that would actually listen to me. Dedicated to getting better, I decided to take control of my health and that meant more than what I ate (though my diet is a very important component). Finding the time to care for myself has become a major priority and rightfully so! I can’t do anything well (including work or being a mom) if I am not well! I now make time self-care in the form of intention setting, acupuncture, massage, yoga, meditation, baths, and just general relaxation so that I give my body a chance to heal and my racing mind some time to rest and regroup! A little self-love goes a long way! Here are my picks for things that help me calm!
