Flax and chia have become staples in my kitchen so I was starting to feel bad when I realized hemp seeds were being left out. A recent recipe contest had me playing around with wild blueberries (stay tuned for more posts on that subject) and the left over bounty in my freezer led to this recipe and my first go at incorporating hemp seeds. Rich in anti-inflammatory fats and protein, hemp seeds are versatile and easy to include in your diet. Try them raw, toasted, sprinkled on a salad or yogurt, mixed with a grain or, of course, in this smoothie. The bonus, wild blueberries have more antioxidant power than their cultivated counterparts and, more importantly, more flavor!
- 1 cup frozen wild blueberries
- 1 banana
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1-2tablespoons hemp seeds
Blend and Serve.
